The Stickperson and you.
Here is an introduction to The Stickperson. It is a very simple and yet very powerful drawing. It was first originated by the late Dr. Thurman Fleet around 1934. It can help you understand why you do the things you do and get the results you get. But more importantly it can help you get the results you want. No one has ever seen the mind, and where there is no image there is confusion, that is why I want to introduce you to the stickperson. The drawing will give you a picture of your mind to work with. Your mind is either in an orderly or confused state. There must be order in your mind, if you ever want it to be present in your physical world.
Conscious Mind – your thinking mind. The conscious mind (1) is the part of you that thinks. See the top half of the head as being your conscious mind. The free will lies in this part of the mind. The conscious mind can accept or reject any thought or idea. No person or circumstance can cause you to think about thoughts or ideas you do not choose. This is important, because the thoughts you choose will eventually determine the results you get in life. Every idea is either originated in the conscious mind or accepted uncritically from an outside source. When you accept a thought or an idea it is impressed upon your subconscious mind.
Sub-Coscious Mind – the conditioned mind. The sub-conscious mind (2) function in every cell of the body, however, for our image, the bottom half of the head will represent the sub-conscious mind. Every thought or word the conscious mind chooses to accept, this part must accept, it has no ability to reject. Any thought or idea you continue to send to the sub-conscious mind becomes fixed and becomes a part of your personality. A fixed idea continuo to express it selves without any conscious thought until it is replaced. Fixed ideas are also called to as habits (you can not forget an old habit, you have to replace it).The sub-conscious mind expresses itself through feelings and actions.
Body – the instrument of the mind. The body (3) is the most visible part. The body is the physical presentation, the material medium; it is merely the instrument of the mind. The thought or ideas that is consciously or unconsciously chosen and impressed upon the subconscious mind, must move your body into action. The action determines the results.
1 – Thoughts, 2 – Feelings, 3 – Actions, 4 – Results. To change the results, you have to change thoughts, feelings and actions. It is simple but not always easy… When you think of yourself see the stickperson. When you think of the stickperson see yourself. When you choose an idea or thought to send to your sub-conscious mind, you can either do that based on your five senses (hear, see, smell, taste and touch) or you can do it by using your higher faculties – Do you know your higher faculties?
